Today I feel thankful, especially thankful because my hubs is a fantastic Dad and now that our kids are a teen and a tween, his involvement, love and guidance feel even more crucial these days.
I am also lucky to have amazing Father figures in my life. My Dad has passed on to me his tireless and honest work ethic and the best gift he has given me is his compassion. I can’t tell you how many animals he has saved in his life. And he has shared his love of fishing, baseball, piano and more with my kids and even though we live far away, it doesn’t feel that way because he is involved with his grandchildren as they enter each exciting new stage.
My Father-in-law is also awesome and I enjoy our chats about my hubs (his middle son) and my kiddos. He is a terrific Pop Pop to our children and they both adore him. He shares his love of trains, books and travel with my son and my girl has gone to Pop Pop with school projects and they worked together to create something great. My kids are so lucky!
I also have a wonderful and fun step-father who is always very interested in what the kids are doing. On a recent visit, I enjoyed watching how much fun he was having watching my girl’s show choir perform at our community theatre.
I have other father figures in my life as well that I am grateful to for giving me good direction and support. An earlier stepfather in my life and my husband’s uncle who have both been good to me, too. How lucky I am!
Simply said, Dads rock and on this Father’s Day I wish you all a fabulous Father’s Day. Dads and Granddads are a crucial part of a child’s life and they make a difference in who that child becomes as they reach adulthood. I appreciate the Dads in my life.
And for those of you missing your beloved fathers today, I send you my heartfelt love. Today I celebrate that life with you and I know what it is like to miss a close loved one on a special day. Here’s to your Dads, too.
