This Halloween Celebrate the Beautiful Black Cat

Since this is Halloween week, I want to take a moment to honor the beautiful black cat.
lucy stripesDisregard any person that tries to tell you that black cats are bad luck because that just breaks my heart.  In fact, many shelters won’t even adopt black cats out during the month of October because of the threat to the innocent cat’s well-being.  I’m also told that black dogs are the last to be adopted as well. Well, I’m here to tell you that honoring our daughter’s request to rescue a black cat from the shelter 1 1/2 years ago has been nothing short of wonderful.

lovely lucy girlSo in honor of our sweet black beauty, Lucy and because she (not by choice) is symbolic of Halloween and we are now in Halloween week, here are a few pictures that demonstrate just how lovely, sweet and fun our little Lucy has been for our family.  This Halloween celebrate the black cats and dogs that don’t deserve to be negatively looked upon, when in actuality, their black fur is super stunning.  This is something that I hadn’t noticed until our girl chose Lucy girl, the sweet black cat with the super shiny coat.  Take a look and email us pictures of your dark dog and/or black cat.  Email to [email protected].  Here is our Lucy in her pretty pictures.  First a baby picture of her when she first came home with my girl…

Their first meeting and it was love at first sight for both feline and human :)

They truly bonded instantly and I became, from this moment on, a huge fan of black cats. How my then 10-year-old girl saw this early on warms my heart.

Lounging Lucy. She sleep with our daughter faithfully every night.

Silly Lucy literally dug herself a bed in laundry that needed to be folded. Excuse us, I guess the laundry folding can wait!

Caregiver Lucy. When our girl was ill, Lucy gave her comfort as she slept to recover.

Although she is cuddling Stanley here, I must admit that sometimes she plays a little too rough, but that is because she is a youngster and he is considered an older cat now at 8 years old.

Patient Lucy. Although it should be ladies first, she patiently waits for Tucker to have his sip of water. We have been thrilled that she fit easily in with our two boy cats.

Playful Lucy. Lucy loves to be in her girl's room and is always ready to play when her tween gal is ready to. Fun to watch.

And Miss Lucy sure is a good sport….just look what she lets her human do to her….

Put her in a dress!

Swing her in a hammock!

Make her wear a birthday hat!

Pose for a birthday picture...see her in the background?!

Even do yoga!

And she does all this willingly because she knows that she is one black cat that is very loved…

We love how her entire little black face disappears when she sleeps!

And we love our Lucy.  So whether you see the pretty pink in the picture or are focused on the blackpretty in pink….consider adopting a black cat or dog the next time you want to rescue an animal because I’m here to tell you that our black cat is nothing short of fun, magic and love (shame on people who say these innocent animals are bad luck) and just look how pretty she grew up to be….

Little Lucy...

….Lucy all grown up….two cute cats

Our lovely Lucy reminds us that black cats (and dogs) are quite special and deserve to be loved. And my favorite Lucy moment (I know there are many more to come), but this is mine, so I will close with this last Lucy picture….sweet heart

Happy Halloween and remember to celebrate the cute, cuddly and beautiful black cat.

strikingly beautiful pictures. Miss Lucy is a work of art in herself– especially posed against the various backgrounds you chose to feature her feline black beauty. Love the shots with Alexis! The special bond they share and the comfort this special little cat provides is evident.
