Here’s a fun idea to get through these last hot dog days of summer…plan a girls’ night in and have everyone bring their favorite bruschetta recipe matched with a Vino that compliments the dish! Yum and fun! My food stylist/gal pal, Julie McMillian and I recently did this and our recipes and corresponding wine suggestions were a hit! We both used La Brea Bakery breads in our recipes and the end result was delish and enjoyable. Julie made a savory bruschetta using the smooth tasting La Brea Bakery French Loaf. I prepared two versions of a sweeter one using the La Brea Bakery Whole Grain Loaf plus I created a more decadent flavor with the bountiful La Brea Bakery Italian Round. Both satisfied the sweet tooth. See the video below to see our tasty matches. Full recipes are below the video.
Julie’s Savory Bruschetta comes from a Pinterest recipe she found on a site called fiveheartathome.com. Get the recipe link here. Yum! For Julie’s savory artichoke bruschetta, we matched a Pinot Grigio wine.
My sweet bruschetta recipe versions are below. For my sweet bruschetta recipes, I matched a Rosé wine or a Sauvignon Blanc wine. We both went with lighter wine matches since we are in the seasonal warmer months.
My Two Sweet Bruschetta versions are here…
Sweet Pecan Pear Bruschetta Healthier version:
What You Need:
2 slices of La Brea Bakery Whole Grain Loaf
Olive oil
Kitehill Almond Based Cream Cheese (this makes the recipe a bit more heart healthy friendly)
Sliced pears
Honey
Cinnamon
Roasted Pecans (I roasted myself on skillet)
What You Do:
- Brush olive oil on the La Brea Bakery Whole Grain Loaf slices. Toast bread under broiler for 3 minutes…OR LESS…YOU MUST EYE IT AS ALL OVENS COOK DIFFERENTLY AND THE BREAD TENDS TO BURN FAST…KEEP AN EYE ON IT
- Take bread out of oven and spread the Kitehill cream cheese on the bread slices evenly.
- Top with 3 or 4 thin slices of pear.
- Drizzle honey over the pear slices.
- Top with roasted pecans.
- Sprinkle cinnamon on top. Take a bite, munch, crunch and sip your wine with it. So fun!
More Decadent Version:
What You Need:
2 slices of La Brea Bakery Italian Round
Olive oil
Philadelphia Honey Pecan Cream Cheese
Sliced pears
Honey
Cinnamon
Roasted Pecans (I roasted myself on skillet)
What You Do:
The exact same as above but swap the bread to the La Brea Bakery Italian Round and swap the cream cheese to the Honey Pecan cream cheese.
