Have Your Cake & Eat It Too Healthy Vanilla Protein Cake Recipe

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

After taking a few weeks off the blog for some time off to help my family…I am back.  And it is a New Year.  Happy New Year.  I think everyone is ready to ring in 2021!

I’m sure many of you are kicking off the year with a healthy eating plan. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have your cake and eat it too.  I recently tried a nutritious vanilla cake that is made with Naked Whey Vanilla Protein Powder, honey, oatmeal and other good ingredients.  This is a healthy vanilla cake without the typical sweetness one gets with a traditional vanilla cake so I recommend adding a yummy cream cheese frosting.  Or try what I did.  I topped my baked cake with strawberries and a scoop of a dairy free ice cream that is instead made with coconut milk.  Cheers to the New Year and cheers to having your cake and eating it too.

Thank you to Naked Whey for sharing this recipe and guest article with us…

Healthy Vanilla Protein Cake

Cakes are one of those food staples that are suitable for any time of the year, no matter the occasion. From birthday parties to festive feasts, cakes are high in popularity and high in demand.

Though, this isn’t always ideal if you happen to be following a diet plan or if you’re trying to get into shape. While it may be tempting to indulge in a big slice and push your fitness goals to the back of your mind, it’s important to view your health and wellbeing as a priority.

Many of us think of diets as restrictive meal plans that don’t allow us to treat ourselves to our favorite foods. This is simply not true. It’s key to remember that you’re allowed to treat yourself every now and again, but you shouldn’t be setting back your progress at the same time. So, you need to be willing to experiment and redesign traditional recipes to better fit your current lifestyle.

In this recipe, I’ve created a healthier version of a simple yet delicious vanilla cake that provides an impressive amount of nutrition. By replacing some ingredients with healthier alternatives and adding in a protein powder, this cake recipe helps you work towards your goals, instead of drifting further away from them.

Adding Naked Whey (a grass-fed vanilla whey protein powder)  into this recipe is a quick and easy way of topping up the nutrition. While protein powder is typically associated with muscle gain, it’s also an excellent tool for losing weight and improving body composition.

Whey protein also offers a range of other health benefits, including reducing body inflammation, supporting the immune system, and helping lower blood pressure. Likewise, protein is also the most filling macronutrient, which aids weight loss as you’re less likely to feel hungry after eating a protein-dense food.

If you’re looking for a cake that’s packed full of nutrition and steers away from excessive calories and sugar, this recipe is the one for you. To make this cake, you’ll need:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour)
  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 scoops of Vanilla Naked Whey
  • ½ cup egg whites
  • ½ cup milk (of choice)
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

First, preheat the oven to 350F before greasing an 8-inch pan (you can use a square pan, or a cake pan). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, baking soda, and the scoops of Vanilla Naked Whey before briefly mixing them together with a whisk. Then add in the egg whites, vanilla extract, honey, and milk. Continue mixing all the ingredients together with a whisk until combined.

Pour the batter into the greased tin and bake for approximately 30 minutes. Let the cake cool completely once done. If you want to add an extra touch, try frosting the cake with cream cheese and adding a heaping of berries. Enjoy!

Thank you again to the team with Naked Whey for providing this recipe.  Here is how my version came out.

The consistency is perfect!

I toped mine with strawberries and powdered sugar. I also added a scoop of coconut milk ice cream the next time I had a piece. Healthy yum!
